I Ate My Baby’s Placenta

Submitted by Jeremy on Friday, 10 April 20094 Comments

pic1_fullI had actually heard of this practice before, but I guess I was always hoping it would stay far enough away from me that I didn’t have to ever think about it much. That wasn’t the case this morning when I stumbled on this fine little pictorial adventure of a new Mother cooking and eating her newborn’s placenta. There are only a few things in life I wish I could “unsee”. This is one of them.

Thankfully the Author cheerfully guides us along the process with wonderful subtitles:

“The preparation! Sure, any slab o’ meat’s going to look a bit unrefined during prep. Keep an open mind.” – Kathy

Now, what she’s describing is the first picture you will see when you click the link below. I did not use that picture, and you’ll know why when you see it. It is one of the most vile things I have ever seen in my life. It honestly made me sick to my stomach, and nothing on the Internet has done that for a very long time. So click at your own risk.

So seriously, what the fuck is up with this? WHY in any circumstance besides critical starvation would you ever do this voluntarily? Is there something I’m missing? Are women just this insane during and after pregnancy? If you want to be “one” with your child, why not just go the next logical step and just eat your damn kid?

It sure as hell would look more appetizing than THAT.
